Job Summary

This position is a key role in developing products and coordinating custom jobs for industrial process cooling, heating, and fluid handling equipment by researching and implementing the latest technologies.  In addition, act as technical support for the sales, manufacturing, and service departments promoting a team environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, and test custom and standard products for the industrial process cooling and heating industry.
• Design refrigeration circuits and select necessary components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves and other components to optimize energy savings, cost savings, and overall chiller performance.
• Responsible for sizing appropriate chiller systems and provide materials and costs for custom quotes to meet our customer’s individual requirements.
• Prepare sizing of electrical components, electrical schematics, panel layouts, and PLC Programming narratives.
• Coordinate the release of jobs by providing drawings and support to production.
• Build bill of materials structures for both standard product and custom job releases.
• Provide shop support for the development of new products, building of customer units, and product maintenance.
• Develop and implement testing plans as required.
• Interface directly with customers to ensure that the product meets expectations regarding performance, quality, and appearance.
• Respond to and implement continuous cost reduction and product improvements.
• Provide technical support for Sales, Purchasing, and Service departments.
• Interface with vendors, other engineering and manufacturing groups as required.

Candidate Requirements

• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in the design of industrial equipment or durable goods (minimum 5 years).
• Experience in refrigeration, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, electrical systems and controls.
• Experience with component layout, sheet metal design, welding design, and piping design.
• Experience with electromechanical devices.
• Experience with assembly drawings and electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Experience with SolidWorks or other solid modeling design software.
• Proficient with computers and ERP Business software.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills using the English language.
• Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Must be legally able to work in the United States.

Job Summary

This position will be a key role in supporting electrical engineering and controls development for industrial process cooling, heating, and fluid handling equipment by researching and implementing the latest technologies. In addition, act as technical support for the sales, manufacturing, and service departments promoting a team environment.

Job Duties

• Research the latest technologies in programable controls, HMI’s, VFD’s, electromechanical devices, sensors, and switches to develop the best solutions for our products.
• Design the entire electrical system for all our products from the power distribution side to the motor starters, safety devices, sensors, and controls following the latest codes and standards as required for the application and customer’s requirements.
• Prepare electrical schematics and electrical subpanel layouts using SolidWorks and DraftSight.
• Develop and implement testing plans as required.
• Develop electrical standards for drawings and documentation.
• Build bill of materials structures for standard product designs.
• Provide manufacturing support for the building of customer units and engineering support for product maintenance.
• Interface directly with customers to ensure that the product meets expectations regarding performance, quality and appearance.
• Implement continuous cost reduction and product improvements.
• Provide technical support for Sales, Purchasing, and Service departments.
• Interface with vendors as required.
• Program controls and HMIs for standard and custom products to meet market and customer specifications.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelors or Associates degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an electrical engineering field.
• Proficient with NEC/UL/CSA/ESA/CE standards.
• Competent in presenting complex engineering solutions to customers with our sales team.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills using the English language.
• Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Must be legally able to work in the United States.

• Schematics and blueprint reading
• Assembly of equipment with hand and pneumatic shop tools
• Inspect and measure parts and products to verify conformance to specifications
• Operate manual shop machine tools such as lathe, mill or drill press
• Self-motivated individual to work independently and as part of a team

Job Summary:

This position is designed for skilled HVAC service technicians. They have broad knowledge of all types of units and have developed a mastery of all types of units (Chiller, Oil TCU, Water TCU) allowing them to be assigned solo field work and can complete the work with little to no support. They will also be able to troubleshoot all units over the phone effectively and with little support. They continue mentoring less experienced technicians while handling the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of chillers and TCUs in commercial and industrial settings. They will also answer incoming calls during business hours, as well as being on call during off-hours as necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Assigned startup and repair of chillers and Temperature Control Units (TCUs) at customer sites.
• They have demonstrated a mastery of all types of units (Chiller, Oil, Water), and require little to no support in the field or with phone support.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on HVAC equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting components to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions, identifying root causes of issues, and recommending appropriate repairs or corrective actions.
• Use diagnostic tools, instruments, and software to analyze system performance, diagnose problems, and adjust as needed.
• Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems used in chillers and TCUs, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and piping layouts.
• Repair and replace faulty components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, valves, and controls.
• Perform system tests, inspections, and performance checks to verify proper operation and compliance with specifications and standards.
• Maintain accurate records of service activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job, using electronic service reports and job tracking systems.
• Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazards in the workplace and at customer sites.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in HVAC technology, equipment, and best practices.
• Build and Test units in the shop as directed by the Service Manager and Production Manager.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of HVAC principles, refrigeration systems, and electrical circuits preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hands-on technical skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Always maintain a professional demeanor and dialog with customers.
• When in the field, must wear a DTS logo polo/shirt that is clean and professional.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all safety regulations and guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Demonstrate mastery of all types of units (Chiller, Oil, Water)
  • 1040 hours (six months) of solo testing here at DTS and/or field experience (not including travel time) for each type of unit.
