Delta T Systems, Inc. is excited to announce the transition of our industrial chillers from R410A to R32 refrigerant.

The Future of Efficient and Environmentally Friendly Refrigeration

Delta T Systems, Inc. is excited to announce the transition of our industrial chillers from R410A to R32 refrigerant. After a comprehensive evaluation process, we have chosen R32 to complement our industry-leading line of chillers.

Why R32 Refrigerant? The Superior Choice for Refrigeration

Superior Energy Efficiency

R32 is a game-changer, boasting 10% more efficiency than R410A and R454B. With its superior heat transfer properties, R32 empowers our chillers to operate at peak efficiency, slashing energy consumption and operational costs.

Environmental Responsibility

R32 has a significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 675, compared to R410A’s GWP of 2088. This aligns with global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, making R32 a much more environmentally friendly option.

Proven Safety and Reliability

R32 is a single-component refrigerant, making it easier to handle, recycle, and reclaim. With a mildly flammable classification (A2L), it has been rigorously tested and proven safe for industrial applications by over 40 OEMs in more than 160 million installations worldwide. Our chillers are designed to ensure safe and reliable operation with R32.

Future-Proof Your Investment

Government restrictions are set to phase out R410A by 2026. Rest assured, our current chiller line using R410A will be available through the transition to R32. By transitioning to R32 now, you can rest assured that your investment is future-compliant, avoiding any last-minute replacements or modifications.

Technical Background of R32

Exercise Due Diligence

Although R-32 has been accepted around the world as a safe and efficient refrigerant, companies sourcing new chillers, HVAC, or refrigeration systems need to exercise due diligence before acquiring new equipment.

Delta T Systems recommends checking state and local codes applicable to refrigeration equipment. Many of the alternative refrigerants that meet current GWP standards have varied levels of flammability that may prevent their use in some applications.

Reduced Refrigerant Charge

Systems designed for R32 typically require less refrigerant charge compared to other refrigerants. This not only lowers the initial cost of the refrigerant but also minimizes the potential environmental impact in case of leaks.

Ease of Use

R32 is a single-component refrigerant, which simplifies handling, recycling, and recharging processes. Any refrigeration system can be recharged without recovery and vacuum. Unlike blends, there are no issues with component separation, ensuring consistent performance throughout the refrigerant’s life cycle.

Avoiding PFAS Law Reporting

R-454B is a blend that includes R1234yf which falls under a potential banned list of refrigerants under the new PFAS regulation proposals.  R-32 falls outside the PFAS definition because it is a single-component refrigerant and does not include R1234yf

In summary, R32 refrigerant offers significant environmental and operational benefits, making it a preferable choice for modern HVAC systems. Its lower GWP, higher energy efficiency, reduced refrigerant charge, and better heat transfer capabilities contribute to its growing popularity in the industry.
